The Kansas City Chiefs are on a roll and have all sorts of reasons to be celebrating during the holidays. On the field there is their 15-1 record and the fact they just locked up the AFC’s No. 1 seed in the playoffs thanks to their win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day.While everything may seem great for the team and its players, there’s life outside of football.
Much to cherish, to be sure.
But the family of team MVP Patrick Mahomes is dealing with some issues away from the field.
Patrick’s maternal grandmother passed away in April 2023. And now his grandfather, mom Randi Mahomes’ father, is struggling and is in the hospital.
On Friday, the day after the Christmas victory in which her son starred, Randi sent out a social media post centered on her dad.
“Asking for prayers for my father,” Randi wrote in the Instagram post while sharing a selfie with him.
We know that grandfather Randy Martin was in the hospital dating back to September, and that Randi uses social media as a way to update the public … but also as a way that may be cathartic to her and the Mahomes/Martin families.
“Amazing Christmas Day with all my favorite people, FaceTime my daddy!!!” she wrote on Wednesday. “And of course Chiefs Win!!! #BLESSED.”
Chiefs fans surely get the message and along with their celebrating are thinking about those who are struggling, in whatever way, during this holiday season.
