The Detroit Lions made a handful of roster moves on Tuesday in the aftermath of Sunday’s dominating win over the Chicago Bears.
Among the moves, the Lions placed tight end Shane Zylstra on injured reserve. Zylstra suffered an ankle injury on special teams in the win over Chicago. He will miss at least four weeks.
Replacing Zylstra on the 53-man roster: Trystan Colon. The veteran offensive lineman is back after suffering an injury during the summer. Colon can play guard or center and had worked his way into consistent second-team reps before injuring his elbow in the preseason. He had been on Detroit’s practice squad.
The Lions also added WR Malik Cunningham to the practice squad, as previously reported. Detroit wasn’t done, however. Detroit added veteran TE Ross Dwelley to the practice squad to help with Zylstra’s loss. To create room, the Lions released LB Monty Rice after one week with the practice squad. Rice committed a penalty on special teams as a practice squad elevarion, not helping his cause to stick aroind.
