🚨BREAKING: The New England Patriots have reportedly fired Director of Football Strategy Marshall Oium following what insiders describe as an “abject failure” during the 2026 NFL Draft. Despite a strong start in the first two rounds, a series of questionable late-round selections led to an immediate front-office shakeup as the team looks to move past the draft-day “embarrassment”.👇

The New England Patriots have reportedly fired Marshall Oium, the Director of Football Strategy, after an embarrassing draft weekend failure, according to a report from insider Joseph Pasteris.

“Oium has been with the franchise since 2018 when he joined the team as a pro scout before moving into an executive role in the team’s front office,” Colin Kennedy wrote for 98.5 The Sports Hub. “Oium has served in his latest role in New England since June 2025.”

Oium had one draft to show his talents after the immensely successful 2025 Patriots draft and, unfortunately for us all, completely dropped the ball.

I give the Patriots 2026 NFL Draft a flat-out F.

Caleb Lomu was an excellent selection, and I loved the aggression to move up the board and snag the last first-round tackle. Additionally, Gabe Jacas was a player I would not have been upset to see taken at the original No. 31 pick.

If the draft were just two rounds like in the NBA, the Patriots would have been left with one of the savviest hauls. But it’s not, and they didn’t.

Nearly every selection made after pick No. 53 was a head-scratcher.

Eli Raridon is a very high ceiling prospect, but his floor profiles as a player who might not be finishing his rookie contract on the team. Every pick made after Raridon in the third will also have to put in a lot of work just to make the 53-man roster.

The later rounds were an abject failure, and the front office didn’t need to wait to see how the players panned out to know this.
