The Dallas Cowboys are not wasting time celebrating the team’s thrilling victory over the New York Giants as the front office has already turned their attention to the Chicago Bears matchup in Week 3. Following the win, owner Jerry Jones had already revealed that the Cowboys were on the verge of making a major move.
Unfortunately, this news was paired with one of the team’s starters now slated to miss extended time. The Cowboys officially announced the signing of three-time Pro Bowler Jadeveon Clowney.
Dallas did not need to release a player to make the move as the team also placed starting center Cooper Beebe on injured reserve.
Welcome to Dallas, Jadeveon! ⭐️

Here’s what you need to know about the Cowboys’ latest moves ahead of the team’s Week 3 clash against the Bears.
New Cowboys Pass Rusher Jadeveon Clowney Is Not Looking to Replace Micah Parsons
After joining the Cowboys, Clowney made it clear that he is not aiming to fill the void created by trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. Clowney admitted he could have played alongside Parsons, but that is no longer an option.
“Jadeveon Clowney said he’s not replacing Micah Parsons,” Dallas Morning News’ Calvin Watkins detailed in a September 15, 2025, message on X. “‘No, that’s Micah Parsons. I’m Jadeveon Clowney. I came in here to be me. They could have used me with him.’”
Jadeveon Clowney said he expects to play Sunday vs. the Bears but does not have a snap count in mind. Excited to join the Cowboys and begin practicing on Wednesday. He’s been working out all summer to be ready. pic.twitter.com/yXPqDiyknV

Parsons aside, Clowney still has plenty left to prove now that the former No. 1 pick has a star on his helmet.
“I’ve got seven primetime games to prove it and show the world,” Clowney told reporters on September 15, per DallasCowboys.com’s Tommy Yarrish. “So that’s my whole thought on coming down here. I get to play primetime and put myself out there again.”
Jadeveon Clowney Initially Left Dallas Without Signing a Deal With the Cowboys
Clowney had visited the Cowboys prior to the team’s Week 2 game against the Giants, but the defender left The Star without a deal. Jones explained why Dallas was making the move, perhaps not so coincidentally after the Cowboys gave up to 37 points to the Giants.
“He has been an outstanding player, and he’ll add some real depth,” Jones noted on September 14, per ESPN. “And he’s very credible and he’ll help us.
“It’s the kind of thing that we will continue to do. It’s a lot of the reason we handle our roster the way that we have it, so we can do these kinds of things.”
Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer on Jadeveon Clowney: ‘We’re in the Business of Adding Football Players’
Jones is not the only member of the Cowboys excited about the move. Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is also thrilled to add Clowney to the Cowboys rotation of pass rushers.
“We’re in the business of adding football players and he is a damn good football player,” Schottenheimer noted, per DLLS Cowboys’ Ali Jawad. “He’s hungry.
“He’s not just here to play pass rusher. He’s here to affect the game and stop the run and affect the QB by moving them off the spot.”
Clowney last played for the Carolina Panthers in 2024 before being released this offseason. The defender posted 46 tackles, 11 quarterback hits and 5.5 sacks in 14 appearances last season.
