Sacha Boisvert, the 18th overall pick in last year’s NHL Draft, will be leaving the University of North Dakota after a very impressive freshman season.
In his first collegiate season, he led the team in goals and points, finishing with a stat line of 18 goals and 14 assists in 37 games.
Boisvert capped off his season by winning the NCHC Rookie of the Year award, as well as winning Rookie of the Month twice and Rookie of the Week four times this season in the NCHC.

Though Boisvert excelled in his freshman season, it was a rather disappointing one for North Dakota as a whole. They finished 21-15-2 and failed to reach the NCAA tournament which led to the Fighting Hawks firing their head coach.
After all of that, the move for Boisvert to enter the transfer portal makes a lot of sense.
North Dakota isn’t really in their championship window and with Boisvert set to take the next step in his development, going to a better contender will help him tremendously for his growth as a player.
Teams will be lining up to add the Quebec native as he enters a big year in his sophomore season, leaving Sacha with a big decision on where he wants to play next.
The biggest question is when does Boisvert decide to go pro?
We just had Sam Rinzel and Oliver Moore make the jump from the Gophers and make their NHL debut against Utah, Frank Nazar from Michigan, Landon Slaggert from Notre Dame, and the Hawks 2nd overall pick from Michigan State Artyom Levshunov who all had successful collegiate seasons and were able to take the next step to make it to the NHL.
We might even see Boisvert make the jump next year.
Sacha is showing Hawks fans exactly why GM Kyle Davidson was so high on him. The big center is reminding a lot of fans of another Blackhawk legend who attended the University of North Dakota… Jonathan Toews. Not saying Boisvert will be as good as Toews, but he has a ton of potential and plays a similar two-way game.
Needless to say, there is a lot to be excited about with Sacha Boisvert.
