BREAKING : Green Bay Packers Predicted to Make Bold Move for Potential WR1 Option

Green Bay Packers Predicted to Make Bold Move for Potential WR1 Option

As the Green Bay Packers make their final preparations for the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, there is one glaring needs fans are hoping to see the team address.

Jordan Love needs another top-tier weapon. The Packers need to bring in another wide receiver capable of being a go-to target. With the team holding the No. 23 overall pick in the draft, there should be a couple of options available for them.

Green Bay signed Mecole Hardman in free agency. While the former Kansas City Chiefs’ playmaker brings elite speed to the table, he isn’t a go-to weapon. In fact, it seems much more likely that Hardman will make his impact on special teams as a return man.

That being said, a new prediction has been made for the Packers that would land them the kind of wide receiver they badly need.

Green Bay Packers Predicted to Make Bold Move for Potential WR1 Option

Eric Edholm, an analyst for NFL.com, has released a new mock draft. In that mock draft, he has Green Bay making a move for a wide receiver with their first-round selection.

That wide receiver is none other than Texas Longhorns’ standout Matthew Golden.

“With Christian Watson recovering from a January ACL tear, the Packers might want to add another deep threat, even if Golden wasn’t extensively used downfield at Texas. It’s well-documented that the Packers have not drafted a receiver in Round 1 since Javon Walker in 2002, but I won’t be shocked if the run ends here.”

Golden has skyrocketed up draft boards over the last month. Some even believe he could be the No. 1 wide receiver taken, which would see him off the board when the Packers are on the clock. However, there are others who think he could be available for Green Bay to scoop up.

During the 2024 college football season with the Longhorns, Golden caught 58 passes for 987 yards and nine touchdowns. He was a go-to target for quarterback Quinn Ewers.

Of course, this is just a prediction. It will be interesting to see what the Packers choose to do in the first round.
