The Kansas City Chiefs are now in full offseason mode after losing Super Bowl LIX 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles and failing to be the first team to win three in a row.
One of the biggest events until now and the start of next season is the 2025 NFL Draft, in which the Chiefs hold the No. 31 pick.
In a mock draft done by Fox Sports, they are predicted to select wide receiver Emeka Egbuka out of Ohio State.
“Patrick Mahomes needs another weapon with Travis Kelce aging and Xavier Worthy still learning the nuisances of being a complete receiver at the next level,” they wrote. “Egbuka is the Buckeyes’ all-time leader in receptions and had double-digit touchdown catches in two of his last three seasons in Columbus. He’s a possession receiver who serves as a great compliment to Worthy’s deep-threat ability.”
In their national championship win, he racked up six receptions for 64 yards, which not only helped him capture Ohio State’s all-time receptions record, now at 205 but also showed that he performs well on a big stage.
Considering Kansas City just participated in their fifth Super Bowl in six years, that’s a valuable asset for anyone joining the Chiefs.
Egbuka could also directly replace DeAndre Hopkins, who, for the Chiefs in 2024, accumulated 41 receptions, 437 yards, and five touchdowns, which was all second among wide receivers but is set to hit free agency.
