Kansas City Chiefs fans, Swifties and many more are waiting to hear what star tight end Travis Kelce will do with his NFL career.
“I know everybody wants to know whether I am playing next year and right now I am just kicking everything down the road. I am kicking every can I can down the road,” Kelce said during the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast with brother Jason.
“I am not making any crazy decisions but right now, the biggest thing is just being there for my teammates and being there for my coaches understanding there’s a lot that goes into this thing. I’ve been fortunate over the past five, six years, I’ve played more football than anybody…”
Kelce admitted he’s considering his options, but a new report from Us Weekly suggests the future Hall of Fame tight end had already made up his mind about retirement before a 40-22 Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
An insider told Us Weekly that Kelce, “was hoping he’d end his career on a high,” suggesting he would have called it a career had the Chiefs won the Super Bowl a week and a half ago. Instead, he’s now “reconsidering what he wants moving forward. He may come back next season.”
It’s important to note that Kelce is still under contract with the Chiefs for the 2025 season and he expressed a desire to play for three more years after being asked where he sees himself in three years during a Super Bowl media session.
The Chiefs reportedly gave Kelce a “deadline” of March 14 to make his retirement decision before his $11.5 million roster bonus hits on March 15.
