Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for Super Bowl 59, where they will be taking on the Philadelphia Eagles. However, Mahomes and one of his teammates, Mecole Hardman, quickly turned their attention to the NBA on Sunday after the Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Mahomes, who is from Texas, is a big fan of the Mavericks in the NBA. They shocked the world when they traded away their superstar point guard in exchange for Lakers star center Anthony Davis, with Mahomes posting a simple two-word reaction to the deal on social media.
“Wait what?,” Mahomes said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, when he heard that Doncic had been traded.
Considering how there were virtually no signs that this deal was close to being completed before it happened, and that involved two of the best players in the NBA, Doncic and Davis, folks everywhere were talking about this trade. That included Hardman, who trolled Mahomes with a six-word message on social media.
“I know Pat sick right now,” Hardman said in a post on X, referencing Mahomes’ fandom of the Mavs and Doncic.
It’s no secret that Mahomes was a fan of Doncic’s, as he was seen sitting courtside at American Airlines Center when the team was in the NBA Finals last year. Heck, shortly after this deal was made, the Chiefs released a video of Mahomes answer quick-hitting questions, with one of them revealing that Doncic was his favorite player in the NBA.

Doncic is headed to L.A. now, though, where he will be looking to make his debut before the All-Star break as he deals with a calf injury. Mahomes, meanwhile, will look to restore his focus on the Super Bowl, which is set to kickoff on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. EST.
