The Cincinnati Bengals have been on the receiving end of some heat here and there for the trade that sent Joe Mixon to the Houston Texans.
Never mind that the Bengals were ready to move on and trying to do right by Mixon while shipping him to a contender instead of cutting him.
The subject came up again as Mixon’s Houston Texans took on the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs on Saturday.
Former NFL VP Andrew Brandt shared this: “The Texans traded the 224th pick in the 2024 Draft to the Bengals for Joe Mixon. Pretty good trade.”
Mixon enjoyed a 1,000-yard season with 11 touchdowns in Houston this year before his 88 yards and a score on a 4.9 per-carry average during the loss to the Chiefs.
The Bengals made out pretty well in the deal too, though, getting younger at the position while finding a breakout player with Chase Brown, who rushed for 990 yards and seven scores on a 4.3 average in 16 games. Plus, the 224th pick ended up being safety Daijahn Anthony, who appears to have a pretty bright future for himself, too.
