🚨BREAKING: The New England Patriots are bracing for a grueling 2026 season as schedule leaks reveal a massive travel workload and a confirmed international showdown. With Mike Vrabel attempting to reshape the Patriots into a yearly AFC contender, the leaked slate immediately raised questions about playoff positioning, travel demands and whether New England could face one of the league’s toughest opening schedules.

The NFL officially confirmed Wednesday that the Patriots will travel to Munich for a Week 10 matchup against the Detroit Lions on Nov. 15 at Allianz Arena. Kickoff is set for 9:30 a.m. ET on FOX, with local time in Germany reading 3:30 p.m.

Patriots on for Week 10 Germany Game

The Germany trip marks New England’s third international game in four seasons and sixth overall. Their overseas record stands at 3-2, but the last two outings were both defeats, a 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt in 2023 and a 32-16 setback against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London in 2024, according to 98.5 The Sports Hub‘s Alex Barth.

Detroit wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, whose mother is German, has called playing in Germany a lifelong aspiration.

“I cannot wait to play in front of the incredible fans,” St. Brown said, as quoted by CBS Detroit. The Lions enter 2026 off a 9-8 season and a missed playoff berth, but quarterback Jared Goff and St. Brown give Detroit enough offensive firepower to make the Munich matchup a genuine test.

New England Faces 5th-Most Travel Miles in 2026

That overseas trip is just one piece of a travel picture that stands out across the entire league. According to a stadium-to-stadium analysis by Bill Speros of Bookies.com, cited by CBS Sports‘ Jordan Dajani, the Patriots are projected to cover 27,590 miles during the 2026 season. That’s more than all but four other NFL franchises.

Only the San Francisco 49ers (38,105 miles), Los Angeles Rams (34,847), Houston Texans (28,470) and Dallas Cowboys (27,980) face a heftier travel itinerary. New England’s divisional rival, the Miami Dolphins, check in at sixth overall with 27,568 miles.

The contrast with 2025 is striking. The Patriots traveled just over 10,000 miles last season, one of the lowest totals in the league. Moving to fifth-highest in a single year is a steep climb in accumulated physical demands for a roster still building toward a sustained championship run.

New England’s confirmed away schedule also includes road trips to Seattle, Kansas City and Los Angeles, plus the full AFC East road circuit against the Bills, Dolphins and Jets. 98.5 The Sports Hub‘s Scott Zolak has reported hearing the Patriots will face the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving at Arrowhead Stadium, according to NESN, a prime-time cross-country trip that compounds an already punishing travel load.

The NFL as of Wednesday evening had confirmed two of the three Thanksgiving Day games. The Philadelphia Eagles travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys, and then the holiday wraps with a Netflix-streamed game between the 49ers and Los Angeles Rams.

But the final matchup, as tradition dictates, will feature the Lions. That rules out the Patriots, who will have played the Lions in Germany a week earlier.

Whether the NFL grants New England a bye week following the Munich game remains unknown ahead of Thursday’s full release. Teams can now request a post-international-game bye but are not guaranteed one. Sustaining the 14-3 form that produced an AFC title in 2025 across a schedule this demanding off the field as well as on it will be among the defining tests of Vrabel’s second full season in Foxborough.
