Steelers To Make History In Paris..DT

The Pittsburgh Steelers will play Paris, France for the first NFL game in ever in France against the New Orleans Saints during week 7 as reported by Ari Meriov. The game will be played at Stade de France in Paris, the home of France’s soccer and rugby national teams, and also a site for UEFA Euro soccer tournament games. The stadium capacity is 80,698, making it the largest stadium in the country.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac, the Jacksonville Jaguars “blocked” the Steelers from playing against them in their London game this year.

“According to multiple sources, the Jaguars ‘protected’ their home game against the Steelers, meaning it will likely be played in Jacksonville and not in the capital of England,” Dulac reported.

“They don’t want to give up a game against the Steelers because they know it is guaranteed to be a sellout, based on the way Steelers fans gobble up seats in opposing stadiums,” Dulac wrote.

The Steelers took on the Minnesota Vikings last year in Dublin, Ireland, it was their first international game in 12 years. That 2013 matchup was also against the Vikings in London England which resulted in a 34-27 defeat for Pittsburgh.

Steelers President Art Rooney II had this to say about the historic game, “We’re honored to represent the Pittsburgh Steelers and the NFL in the League’s first-ever game in Paris this upcoming season,” said Steelers President Art Rooney II. “Playing the New Orleans Saints in such a historic setting is a great opportunity to showcase the NFL’s global growth and to connect with fans around the world. It’s an exciting moment for our organization and for Steelers Nation everywhere.”

Brett Gosper who is the NFL Head of Europe & Asia Pacific had this to say about the matchup,

“The highly anticipated 2026 NFL Paris game is an exciting new chapter in the league’s global growth efforts,” said Gosper. “We look forward to welcoming the Steelers alongside the Saints to the Stade de France on Sunday Oct. 25 to create NFL history together. Paris is a global city synonymous with some of the world’s greatest sporting and cultural moments, and we can’t wait to bring the excitement of an NFL gameday to fans from France and around the world this fall.”

Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of GL events Venues and President of the Société d’Exploitation du Stade de France, Christophe Cizeron believes the game shows the ambition of the Stade de France,

“This first-ever NFL game in France embodies the Stade de France’s ambition: to be a leading global venue, open to the world, dedicated to hosting the greatest international events, while remaining firmly rooted in its local community and committed to the social and economic development of its local area,” said Cizeron.

Despite the 8,600-mile-round-trip journey to Paris and back that the Steelers will take they still only will travel 14,183 miles during the regular season. That will be the seventh fewest miles traveled for all NFL teams during the regular season.

The exact date and time for the game is still unannounced.
