Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Chiefs entered the offseason facing key decisions for their wide receiver group.

After a 2025 season hampered by injuries and falling short of expectations, Xavier Worthy quickly became a subject of trade rumors.
Although the team fielded multiple inquiries from other clubs, general manager Brett Veach made the organization’s stance unmistakably clear.
“We shut down all those calls. Our intention is for Xavier to stay here and keep developing,” Veach stated.
Instead of pursuing any trades, the Chiefs chose to invest fully in Worthy’s growth on and off the field.
This offseason, Worthy has been training intensely alongside veteran wide receiver Hollywood Brown.
Last season, Worthy posted just 42 receptions for 532 yards and one touchdown across 14 games.

A series of injuries and inconsistency kept him from unlocking the explosive potential the Chiefs originally drafted.
Still, the organization remains committed to the young receiver they selected in the first round.
The presence of Hollywood Brown plus added depth at the position has created the perfect environment for his development.
With his speed and experience, Brown is expected to serve as a key mentor for Worthy this spring.
Worthy recently spoke candidly about his mindset during this pivotal time in his career.
“I’ve heard it all — the whispers, the criticism, and every trade rumor out there. But this isn’t the end of my story. It’s a fresh start.
I’m giving everything I have, learning from the best, and taking it all back step by step.
The Chiefs believed in me once, and now it’s my job to show they were right.”
Head coach Andy Reid has also voiced strong public support for the young wide receiver.
“He’s got the talent and now he’s getting the right guidance. We believe in Xavier,” Reid said.
As training camp draws near, Worthy is entering the most important year of his young NFL career.
The 2026 season represents a defining opportunity to convert raw potential into consistent, reliable production.
With the full backing of the organization still intact, Worthy has everything in place to finish writing his redemption story.
