🚨 Chiefs Coaching Shake-Up Continues After Disappointing Season — Another Departure Raises Big Questions 👀🏈

The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t have the kind of season they’re used to in 2025-26, and instead, ended the year with a 6-11 record and no trip to the postseason.

The 2025-26 season marked the first time the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t make it to the playoffs in the Patrick Mahomes era.

Now, the Kansas City Chiefs are shaping their roster for the 2026-27 season, including players and coaching staff.

The team parted ways with offensive coordinator Mike Nagy in early January, and coach Andy Reid at the time insisted there were no hard feeling about the move.

“We left it that simple, that’s what I would tell you,” Reid said, according to Myles Simmons of NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk. “I know everybody’s going to question everything and I get all that. It’s understandable. But Matt and I have a great relationship. And here he sits, and before the season, right before the season even started here, I knew that he wanted an opportunity to have his own show.”

Reid added, “He’s been a head coach. He was coach of the year. I mean, all the things I’ve said about him, I still feel about him. There’s nothing different there. He deserves to have a head coaching job. And if not, it gives him an opportunity to go out and do his thing.”

Chiefs Sign Surprise WR Who Could Replace Playoff Hero

Well, Nagy won’t be a head coach for the 2026-27 season. But, he does officially have a new gig, so there’s no hope of him returning to the Chiefs in any capacity.

According to a report from NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Nagy is the new offensive coordinator for the New York Giants.

“The [New York] Giants are hiring former Chiefs OC Matt Nagy as their new offensive coordinator, per The Insiders,” Rapoport reported on X. “An experienced play-caller who has worked with the game’s best, Nagy fills a key role on John Harbaugh’s staff.”

When the news surfaced, NFL voices started to make sense of the pairing.

“John Harbaugh worked under Andy Reid in Philadelphia, and Harbaugh mentioned in his opening press conference that he sought advice from Reid, who told him, ‘Change can be good,’ after his firing in Baltimore,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter commented. “Now, Harbaugh turns back to the Andy Reid coaching tree by hiring Matt Nagy as his offensive coordinator in New York.”

“After working with Patrick Mahomes for the last several years, Matt Nagy will now work with Jaxson Dart,” Rapoport added.

Dart, of course, will also be working under the New York Giants’ new head coach, John Harbaugh, who has years of experience coaching Lamar Jackson.

According to research from Pro Football Reference, under Nagy, the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense went from 9th in yards and 15th in points in 2023 to 20th in yards and 21st in points in 2025.
