BREAKING: Detroit Lions Hit With Injury Setback at the Worst Time

Detroit Lions Hit With Injury Setback at the Worst Time

Getty The Detroit Lions are coming off a great win against the Chicago Bears, but they just got hit with some news that could be a setback.

It’s difficult to come down off the high of the Detroit Lions‘ epic win over the Chicago Bears at Ford Field, and it was certainly sweet to see what they accomplished against their former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. The team deserves to soak up this victory and bask in the joy of notching a big win over Johnson and the Bears, but they don’t have too long to go until they’re up against one of the best teams in the league.

Next up, the Detroit Lions will take on the Baltimore Ravens for Monday Night Football on Monday, September 22. This should be another good matchup, and the Lions are underdogs heading into it. The Ravens’ quarterback, Lamar Jackson, is one of the best in the league, so they’re always a challenging team.

For the Lions to prevail this season, they have to stay healthy. They can’t have a repeat of last season, when their entire defensive line was out. Okay, that’s a big much, but the Lions’ defensive line was one of the most injured in the NFL last season. Now, head coach Dan Campbell is delivering some not-great news about one of their injured players.

Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell is Too Quiet About Player

Campbell was asked about the injury status of edge rusher Marcus Davenport this week. During an interview with 97.1 The Ticket on Wednesday morning, September 17, Campbell was wishy-washy on Davenport’s status and certainly didn’t make any promises about whether he’ll be able to play against the Ravens.

“Nothing new there,” Campbell said. “I’m probably not going to know until the end of the week. But as far as depth, we’re good. We’re in a pretty good place here.”

He added, “You know, we made some acquisitions, Brad did, right out of camp. So we’re pretty good depth wise here, but we’ll know more at the end of the week.”

Are the Lions really good in depth on Davenport’s position? That’s up for debate. But, it appears there’s a real possibility that he won’t be playing in Monday’s game, which could hurt the Lions. We hope he gets better soon.

Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions is Underrated

Goff has picked up his first big honor of the 2025-26 season, and it came early in the season. Goff has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week following the win over the Chicago Bears.

Goff should soak up this honor and enjoy it all week long. After the Lions’ loss to the Packers, some in the NFL said it was a sign that Goff wouldn’t thrive without the direction and guidance of Johnson, but he proved them all wrong against Williams and the Bears. Goff was able to show that he’ll be just as reliable and successful this season. That should make the Motor City very excited for the rest of the season.

Goff was also named one of the most underrated quarterbacks of 2025 by Alternative Fix, and he deserves it. Now, it’s Goff vs. Jackson, and we’re here for it.
