KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) – Patrick Mahomes will likely be getting two much-needed weapons back for the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 3 matchup.
Wide receivers Xavier Worthy (shoulder) and Jalen Royals (knee) are both on track to return against the Giants on Sunday Night Football.
Both players were at practice on Wednesday and are listed as limited participants in today’s injury report. However, according to Andy Reid, neither had any limitations while practicing.
This is great news for a Chiefs offense that has struggled to consistently move the ball in the first two weeks, falling to 0-2 for the first time in over a decade.
The team has been shorthanded to start the season as Worthy injured his shoulder on the third play of the season against the Chargers after running into Travis Kelce. Royals, however, have yet to play after injuring his knee.
Along with the injuries, they’ve been without their number one target, Rashee Rice, who’s been suspended for six games after his involvement in a six-vehicle crash in March of 2024.
The additions of Worthy and Royals, along with Rice’s return, will likely give the Chiefs a much more productive offense as the season continues.
With two out of the three unavailable receivers on track to be back on the field this Sunday, the Chiefs should find themselves in an excellent position to get their first win of the season.
