Patrick Mahomes Sends Clear Scottie Scheffler Message on Sunday - Athlon Sports

Scottie Scheffler claimed his 18th PGA Tour victory on Sunday, taking down Robert MacIntyre by two strokes in the final round of the BMW Championship.

Scheffler entered Sunday’s round trailing MacIntyre by four strokes, but a 3-under 67 was enough to propel him into No. 1 position in the penultimate event of the FedExCup Playoffs.

Scheffler held a one-stroke lead over MacIntyre heading into the par-3 17th hole at Caves Valley Golf Club. After a wayward tee shot into the left rough, the World No. 1 golfer found himself with a difficult downhill chip heading toward the water.

Scheffler holed out for birdie from more than 80 feet out, giving him a two-shot lead heading into the 18th.

This incredible shot sparked reactions from prominent figures around the sporting world, including Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“Scottie is crazy man,” Mahomes wrote on X.

Scheffler is the No. 1 player in the FedExCup standings and the clear favorite to notch his second consecutive FedExCup title at next week’s Tour Championship. This BMW Championship victory gives him his second straight season with more than five PGA Tour victories (seven in 2024 and five in 2025). He’s the first golfer since Tiger Woods to record back-to-back five-win seasons.

Scheffler will begin his FedExCup title defense when he tees off at East Lake Golf Club on Thursday. Mahomes and the Chiefs will kickoff their 2025 regular-season NFL schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sep. 5
