The New England Patriots have held OTAs over the past two weeks, and multipe storylines have already emerged.
One of the more interesting storylines was offensive lineman Tyrese Robinson working in at the left guard position at last week’s open practice for media members. This is of note given that Cole Strange has been the starting left guard for the Patriots when healthy.
Keep in mind, this was only at one open OTAs practice, and the Patriots could be experimenting with multiple players at left guard. With that said, the competition at the position looks wide open at this point. Robinson played in one game for the Patriots last season.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss wrote:
“The 6-foot-3, 319-pound Robinson was claimed on waivers from the Vikings last November and appeared in one game. The Oklahoma University alum entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2022 — running backĀ Rhamondre StevensonĀ noted his effectiveness as a run blocker in college — and is among the candidates the Patriots are considering at arguably the most wide-open position on the roster.”
Robinson’s presence at left guard could be worth monitoring as training camp gets closer.

He could be a dark horse candidate to not only make the team but earn game reps at the position. Along with Strange, rookie center Jared Wilson might also be in the mix, especially if Garrett Bradbury starts at center. Second-year guard Layden Robinson is also a player to keep an eye on in the growing left guard competition.
