Micah Parsons’ 1-Word Response to Cowboys Contract Question Turns Heads

Micah Parsons' 1-Word Response to Cowboys Contract Question Turns Heads - Athlon Sports

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t made many moves this offseason, but it has still been an incredibly hectic couple of weeks for them. Easily the biggest situation the team has to deal with right now is Micah Parsons’ contract, and he offered an interesting one-word response when asked about the ongoing negotiations.

After watching Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb sign extensions of their own last offseason, Parsons sat back and waited for his own big deal to come. It hasn’t surfaced yet, and recent reports indicated that the two sides aren’t exactly close to hammering out a deal here.

“While there is chatter on Twitter about Micah Parsons and a contract extension being finalized, I checked. Not only is it NOT done but what would be characterized as meaningful talks haven’t even begun yet per two sources informed,” Jane Slater of NFL Network reported on Tuesday.

The negotiations between Parsons and Dallas have been cryptic to say the least, and it is a bit surprising to see that meaningful discussions have yet to get underway. When asked if he was upset about his contract situation, Parsons offered a one-word response before getting cut off by a Cowboys employee.

“I asked if (Parsons) is disappointed that he doesn’t have a new contract from the Cowboys. He said ‘No’ and started to explain but a staff member said the interview would only include questions about the event,” Jon Machota of The Athletic shared in a post on X.

Despite missing four games, Parsons still managed to rack up 12 sacks last season, in addition to 43 tackles, two fumbles forced, and a pass defended. He earned his fourth straight Pro Bowl selection and finished 17th in the Defensive Player of the Year race.

Parsons is entering the final year of his rookie contract with Dallas, which will pay him $24 million. However, time is running out for the Cowboys to lock up their superstar defender before he could potentially leave for nothing next offseason.
