When the Green Bay Packers were eliminated from the NFL Playoffs, it was immediately clear that they would be trying to improve their wide receiver room this offseason. Christian Watson will miss the start of the 2025 NFL season and the other three top wide receivers struggled with drops all year long.
Even Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs stated the he felt the Packers needed to go out and get a veteran wide receiver who could lead the room and help the younger players improve.
But as the weeks of the NFL offseason have dragged on, Green Bay has seen more and more players that they were linked to signed and/or acquired by other teams.
The Green Bay Packers Have Missed Out on DK Metcalf and Others

At the start of the offseason, there were three specific wide receivers that many fans wanted and/or were linked to Green Bay by NFL analysts. These players were Tee Higgins, Davante Adams, and DK Metcalf.
But Higgins was franchise tagged by the Cincinnati Bengals and has been off the market for a while now. Despite this, fans still were confident that the Packers would be able to nab one of the other two wide receivers to help improve the position.
But on Sunday, it was reported that Adams had signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams. To make matters worse, it was later revealed that the Pittsburgh Steelers had not only traded for Metcalf, but had also given him a four-year $132 million contract extension.
Green Bay Packers Fans Are Not Happy About Losing DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers

With Higgins, Adams, and Metcalf all off the table, it does not seem like Green Bay will be able to get the number one wide receiver their fans and Pro Bowl running back had hoped for. Fans were quick to express their disappointment on social media:

Make no mistake: the Packers still need to address the wide receiver position. Now, however, it looks like they will be doing so via the NFL Draft.
