The Kansas City Chiefs is in a position that it has not been for a long time, as the off-season will be spent trying to get back on top, rather than consolidating their position as the best.
Losing the Super Bowl in New Orleans against the Philadelphia Eagles saw the dream of a historic and unprecedented three-peat disappear, so now the Chiefs have to rebuild.
Head coach Andy Reid seems to be sticking around for another year despite many pundits calling for him to step down following the Super Bowl failure, so he is working out how he can enhance his roster and get back on top.
One move has caught the Chiefs fans somewhat off guard, with linebacker Blake Lynch coming back to the franchise having played one game in 2024 for the Chiefs. That was the 0-38 defeat against the Denver Broncos in the season-closer.
He has ended up playing plenty of positions in his career, which could be viewed as useful versatility, or a player who can’t hold down a clear position in any team.

A big season for Reid
Reid will want a season of redemption, although he recently explained that he has no interest in the individual records that could be waiting for him in the near future.
Reporters recently wanted to know if Reid is looking to break Don Shula‘s record of 328 regular season wins, as Reid currently has 273 wins.
“I am not big on all the records stuff. I do not know all that, I do not care about all that, I am in this to teach young guys. I love the game, but I love teaching, so I am in it to do that,” Reid said in response.
Building for the new season will be difficult to carry out with conviction for the Chiefs until they know for sure if tight end Travis Kelce is going to retire from the sport or not.
