This year’s draft class isn’t bad, but it’s not the most flashy, especially when it comes to quarterbacks. Head coach Mike Vrabel and executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf kept their thoughts about the 2025 NFL Draft close to their chest, but New England is reportedly willing to listen to offers for the No. 4 pick.
MassLive’s Karen Guregian, Mark Daniels and Chris Mason spoke to at least two dozen coaches, agents, executives and talent evaluators at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. After those talks, the Patriots insiders identified tight end Tyler Warren as a name “to keep an eye on” if New England found a trade partner.
Warren spoke highly of the Patriots at his combine news conference Thursday despite not formally meeting with Vrabel and company. The Penn State product went viral when he revealed that he wears No. 44 because his dad showed him John Riggins film, displaying that was how he wanted his son to run.
NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah and ESPN’s Mel Kiper ranked Warren highly at No. 5 and No. 7, respectively. Jeremiah didn’t go as far as to say he’s like Rob Gronkowski, but he noted the tight end had similar skills. Warren’s versatility also could play well in Josh McDaniels’ offense and any extra help for Drake Maye would be welcome news for fans.
While Warren is projected to be a top-10 pick, the Patriots likely aren’t going to pass up on Will Campbell or Mason Graham at No. 4, assuming Abdul Caster and Travis Hunter have already been selected. But there will be intriguing names for New England if it receives a convincing enough offer to trade down.
