The Green Bay Packers won’t have one of their running backs for the rest of the 2024 season, as it was declared that MarShawn Lloyd’s rookie NFL campaign is over.
MarShawn Lloyd, the no. 88 pick of last year’s draft, has played only one game for the Green Bay Packers due to injuries and an emergency surgery to fix appendicitis.
According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Lloyd aggravated a hamstring injury he had suffered in training camp and didn’t practice this week despite recovering from appendicitis. The USC product is on the team’s injury reserve list.
The 24-year-old finished his rookie campaign with six carries for 15 yards and one caught pass. Despite not having MarShawn Lloyd, the Green Bay Packers remain a top rushing team in 2024, with Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson producing at a high level.
MarShawn Lloyd drops a message to Green Bay Packers fans after rookie campaign
MarShawn Lloyd announced the devastating news on his Instagram account, and he vowed to bounce back stronger for the Green Bay Packers next year.
“Dear Rookie Year…. Thank you! Adversity is nothing new to me. Although I was not be able to play this year I appreciate the challenge. I will use this time to get my health back and get ready for next season. Watch me work! 😤 #Blessed #Uno🦋” Lloyd posted.
The Green Bay Packers are reportedly planning to send MarShawn Lloyd to the same specialists at UW-Madison who helped Eric Stokes and Christian Watson, who had recurring hamstring injuries last offseason.
