Could Will Campbell help fix the Patriots offensive line? (Photo by Gus Stark/LSU/University Images via Getty Images)University Images via Getty Imag
The New England Patriots’ 2024 season has come to a close. That means it’s mock draft season!
We don’t know who will be coaching this team by the start of the 2025 season. But we do know that the Patriots currently hold the No. 4 overall pick of the NFL Draft (after slipping from No. 1 in the last week of the season).
New England has plenty of flaws — namely wide receiver and offensive line. So a trade down could be in the works.
But I’m going without trades in MassLive’s first mock draft of the season. Here’s how I have Round 1 shaking out (as of now):
2025 NFL Mock Draft: Full Round 1 Projection
1) Titans – Travis Hunter CB/WR, Colorado
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner is a unique talent. He excelled playing both ways in college. It’s unclear if he’ll keep that up in the NFL. At the very least, he presents a tremendous talent at receiver.
2) Browns – Mason Graham, DL, Michigan
The Browns are a mess with an albatross QB contract with Deshaun Watson. But with Graham, Cleveland can build up their defensive line alongside Myles Garrett.
3) Giants – Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
This match seems destined. The Giants need a new quarterback and the son of Deion Sanders would make a heck of a splash.
4) Patriots – Will Campbell, OL, LSU
New England needs to fix its offensive line. Their first priority should be getting a tackle. Their second priority should be getting another tackle. After that, it would be wise to grab a guard and some depth.
This isn’t a great draft for offensive linemen. Right now, I think Campbell is the top guy. He’s been a stud at left tackle since he was a freshman and has remained an elite talent.
There are concerns about Campbell’s size (with some thinking he could bump inside to guard). Regardless, Campbell is as polished a product as you can get.
Texas’ Kelvin Banks is also an option here as an athletic pass blocker at left tackle. Expect a bunch of names to be floated as this pick.
5) Jaguars – Will Johnson, CB, Michigan
Jacksonville needs cornerback help. Johnson is the top player at this position. Easy projection.
6) Raiders – Cam Ward, QB, Miami
It’s possible Ward goes higher than this. But if he falls this far, I think the Raiders would be plenty happy to scoop him up.
7) Jets – Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona
With the top quarterbacks off the board, the Jets would be in a top spot. I think they’d grab McMillan, giving them a big-bodied receiver to pair with Garrett Wilson.
8) Panthers – Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State
Carter has emerged as the top-rated pass rusher in this class. He’d fill a clear need.
9) Saints – Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama
Is this a reach? Maybe. But it seems like teams get quarterback-crazy every year. Just look at the Falcons grabbing Michael Penix.
The Saints need a long-term solution. Sitting him behind Derek Carr would give him a chance to develop as a dynamic dual-threat passer.
10) Bears – Kelvin Banks, OT, Texas
Just like the Patriots, the Bears need to bring in some O-line help to protect their young quarterback.
11) 49ers – Jalon Walker, LB, Georgia
San Francisco needs to rebuild its defense, adding a versatile talent like Walker would be a big help.
12) Cowboys – Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State
Ezekiel Elliott 2.0. This feels like a slam dunk from Jerry Jones.
13) Dolphins – Malaki Starks, S, Georgia
Miami underachieved this year and is set to lose key safeties in free agency. Starks is an underrated talent who could really help them.
14) Colts – Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
Anthon Richardson needs weapons. A dynamic tight end would be a big boost.
15) Falcons – Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia
The Matthew Judon experience didn’t seem to work out too well in Atlanta. Once again, they’re in need of pass rush help.
16) Cardinals – James Pearce Jr., EDGE, Tennessee
Arizona is in a similar spot in terms of need. Fortunately, this feels like a strong class for edge rushers.
17) Bengals – Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri
With Tee Higgins heading to free agency, the Bengals seem like they need to get a young receiver to pair with Ja’Marr Chase.
18) Seahawks – Kenneth Grant, DL, Michigan
Offensive line is a strong possibility here. But I feel like Grant presents great value for Mike MacDonald here.
19) Texans – Deone Walker, DL, Kentucky
Walker is a 344-pounder who can provide a stout foundation for Houston’s run defense. He’d be a good get for DeMeco Ryans.
20) Broncos – Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan
Bo Nix has looked good so far. Now get him some help in the middle of the field.
21) Steelers – Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State
It feels like I project an offensive tackle to go to the Steelers every year.
22) Buccaneers – Nic Scourton, EDGE, Texas A&M
Tampa’s pass rush fell off a cliff this year. They need to stock up on edge rushers.
23) Rams – Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota
This offensive line class isn’t considered elite. But if players start coming off the board, teams could start to scramble.
24) Chargers – Tyler Booker, OL, Alabama
Given what we know about Jim Harbaugh, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him build up the interior of his offensive line.
25) Packers – Shavon Revel Jr., CB, East Carolina
Revel is a long, athletic cornerback who could create a great tandem with Jaire Alexander (when he returns from injury).
26) Commanders – Benjamin Morrison, CB, Notre Dame
Morrison is coming off a major knee injury. But Washington seems like it’s in a spot where they can take the time to get him ready.
27) Ravens – Derrick Harmon, DL, Oregon
Another year, another underrated defender who seems destined to thrive in Baltimore.
28) Bills – Cameron Williams, OT, Texas
O-line seems like it’s high on Buffalo’s priority list. We could see a wide range of names projected to go at the end of Roung 1.
29) Eagles – Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall
Green is a name we’ll likely start to hear a lot about once we get to the combine. He looks like a guy who will rise up boards.
30) Vikings – Shemar Stewart, DL, Texas A&M
Stewart is an explosive player who has three-down potential. He could flourish in Minnesota.
31) Chiefs – Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State
Egbuka is a polished receiver who would be a big boost to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense.
32) Lions – Jack Sawyer, LB, Ohio State
Dan Cambell’s teams seem to flourish with gritty defensive leaders. Sawyer would fit in nicely alongside linebacker Jack Campbell.
