🏈 Breaking: Patrick Mahomes Replaced by Super Bowl-Winning QB for Chiefs-Broncos Showdown! 😱

Shannon Sharpe Doesn't Hold Back When Asked About Patrick Mahomes This Season - Athlon Sports

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was inactive on Sunday against the Denver Broncos in Week 18.

The Chiefs rested numerous starters for the game after having previously clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC and a first-round bye in the playoffs.

Mahomes could use the two weeks of rest, considering he’s been dealing with a mild high ankle sprain he suffered in Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns.

The Chiefs turned to backup quarterback Carson Wentz to try to earn their 16th win of the season.

Wentz was part of the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2018 Super Bowl-winning team. He led the team to an 11-2 record but suffered a season-ending knee injury and watched his team take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy from the sidelines.
