ALLEN PARK — The Detroit Lions have waived wide receiver Tom Kennedy, with Kalif Raymond potentially nearing his return from injured reserve.

Raymond has been back at practice for the last couple of weeks after suffering a foot injury against the Indianapolis Colts last month.

The veteran wideout and former All-Pro punt returner was ruled out last week, with the chance to return before the end of the regular season remaining possible. Raymond has been a full participant at both practices this week.

Kennedy has helped fill the void at returner in Raymond’s absence. And he’s used to the routine of bouncing between the roster and the practice squad. Kennedy has appeared in four games this season, handling one punt return and six kickoff returns along the way.

The Lions also brought back defensive back Morice Norris to their practice squad. Norris was signed to the 53-man roster last week and ended up playing 20 snaps on special teams.

Norris has spent most of the year on Detroit’s practice squad. He played his college ball at Orange Coast and then Fresno State before landing with the Lions after the draft as an undrafted rookie free agent.
