BREAKING NEWS : Patriots Control Own Destiny For No. 1 Pick Entering Week 18

New England Patriots Archives - NESN.com

The Patriots officially control the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

New England made the jump after a few things broke its way Sunday, as the New York Giants defeated the Indianapolis Colts to officially lose control of the top selection. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders also found themselves in the win column, which means the hometown club can now finish no lower than No. 4 in the draft order.

You can view the current draft order here.

It’s not like they don’t have anything to play for, however.

The Buffalo Bills locked up the No. 2 seed in their victory over the New York Jets on Sunday, so they don’t have anything worth playing for when they travel to Gillette Stadium in Week 18.

Josh Allen likely will play a few series, but won’t want to risk injury beyond that. The Patriots could take advantage, especially if Jerod Mayo can inspire his team to play hard and try to win one final game.

It’ll be an interesting final week at One Patriot Place. Who saw that coming?
