BROWNS – DOLPHINS Matchup Preview
The Browns continue to search for light in the darkened path of the NFL this season. They have lost four games in a row as they look ahead to the future.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s continued audition for the starting quarterback role next season went awry against Cincinnati with five sacks and two interceptions. He has 257 yards with five interceptions this season. In his NFL career (two years), he has thrown one touchdown and nine interceptions.
Those giveaways have been the Achilles heel for the Browns. Jameis Winston threw eight picks in his last three starts before getting benched.
Cleveland’s offense has sputtered all season, scoring 20 or more points just three times in 2024.
Receiver Jerry Jeudy has been the go-to guy for the Browns’ lackluster offense. Jeudy has 72 receptions for 1,072 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 14.9 yards per reception.
Running back Jerome Ford exploded early on in the last game. He has 98 carries for 543 yards and three touchdowns. Ford had a season-high 92 rushing yards against the Bengals.
Tight end David Njoku has 64 receptions for 505 yards and five touchdowns. He has been ruled out for this matchup due to a knee injury.
Reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett is tied for the second-most sacks in the NFL at 12. He also has three forced fumbles and 34 solo tackles.
Cornerback Denzel Ward continues to lock down his opposition. He has 37 solo tackles with two interceptions and one forced fumble. Ward also leads the NFL with 19 pass deflections.
Safety Grant Delpit has 57 solo tackles with one pass deflection, while cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. tallies 56 solo tackles with one forced fumble and five pass deflections.
The Browns have a minus-18 turnover margin, which is the worst in the NFL. They also have a 30th-ranked minus-135-point differential.
After an ugly start to the season, the Dolphins look to continue their winning ways with a matchup against an AFC North bottom dweller. Miami has won five of their last seven games.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is doubtful to play with a hip injury. He has thrown for 2,867 yards with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Tagovailoa is completing 72.9% of his attempts. He has tossed at least one touchdown pass in every start this season.
If he is unable to go, backup quarterback Tyler Huntley will get the start. He has thrown for 377 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Huntley has played in three games this season.
With Miami’s quarterback situation in disarray for half of the season, superstar Tyreek Hill has weathered an unorthodox campaign. He is questionable with a wrist injury. Hill has 70 receptions for 834 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 11.9 yards per reception.
He is just one of Miami’s many speedy and versatile options.
Tight end Jonnu Smith has emerged as a deep threat. He has 76 receptions for 802 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 10.6 yards per reception.
Running back De’Von Achane has hauled 182 carries for 761 yards and five touchdowns. He is also a potent pass-catching threat, tallying 76 receptions for 579 yards and six touchdowns through the air.
The Dolphins’ run defense has been stellar, allowing just 102.1 yards per carry, which is seventh in the NFL.
Miami linebacker Jordyn Brooks has 75 solo tackles with three sacks. Defensive tackle Zach Sieler adds 24 solo tackles with 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble and one interception.
Linebacker Tyrel Dodson has 48 solo tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one interception. Defensive tackle Calais Campbell has 32 solo tackles, four sacks and one interception.
The Dolphins have defeated the Browns three out of the last five meetings.
