Back in his rookie season, Joe Burrow said that his offensive linemen needed to be his best friends. It’s safe to say that the Christmas gift Burrow got for his offensive linemen this holiday season shows that he has a good relationship with them.
Burrow gave each of his offensive linemen Japanese Katana swords, but there’s a story behind why that was the gift Burrow gave his offensive linemen.
“Well, they wanted guns. And I was like, ‘I don’t know about guns, guys.’” Burrow said with a smirk. “I was in the weapon mindset, and I was like, ‘What’s a cool weapon? Samurai swords, I think, are pretty dang cool.’
“And Nicole, she works for me, and she was able to go and find them for me,” Burrow said. “So, she did a great job finding the best ones out there. So, I think guys were excited about it.”
Burrow looked to be in a joyful mood after the Bengals’ 24-6 win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday afternoon. For the seventh straight game, Burrow threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday, his seventh straight game with at least 250 passing yards and three touchdown passes. That seven-game streak breaks the NFL record previously held by Tom Brady, who had six straight games in the New England Patriots undefeated 2007 undefeated regular season.
The Bengals are 7-8 and still alive in the AFC Playoff picture. They’ll need to win out and get help to get into the NFL Playoffs, but there is hope. There’s especially hope with Joe Burrow at quarterback. Cincinnati hosts the Denver Broncos on Saturday at 4:30 PM ET. The game will be televised nationally on NFL Network.
