The Kansas City Chiefs took care of business on Christmas Day, taking down the Pittsburgh Steelers with a convincing 29-10 final score at Acrisure Stadium.
The Chiefs improved their 2024 season record to 15-1 with this Week 17 win. More importantly, the reigning Super Bowl champions clinched the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led his team to its 15th victory of the year, completing 29 of his 38 passing attempts for 320 yards and three touchdowns. One of Mahomes’ touchdown balls went to tight end Travis Kelce, who passed Tony Gonzalez for the most touchdown receptions in Chiefs franchise history.
The NFL announced the Chiefs’ impressive No. 1 seed achievement with a social media post after the final whistle blew on Wednesday afternoon.

The Chiefs are on the hunt for the first Super Bowl three-peat in NFL history following their back-to-back league titles in 2022 and 2023. Andy Reid and his Kansas City squad earned the AFC’s No. 1 seed in 2022, making a run to the Super Bowl following their first-round bye. In 2023, the Chiefs won the league title as the AFC’s No. 3 seed.
With the No. 1 seed now locked up, the Chiefs will close out their regular season with a Week 18 matchup against the Denver Broncos.
