Patriots vs. Chargers Wednesday injury report: Same three project as non-participants for New England

Patriots vs. Chargers Wednesday injury report: Three starters project as non -participants - Pats Pulpit

The New England Patriots spent Christmas Day away from the practice fields.

But had head coach Jerod Mayo’s roster been on hand, center Ben Brown, cornerback Marcus Jones and safety Kyle Dugger would have remained non-participants as the Los Angeles Chargers near Foxborough.

Here’s the estimated injury report heading into the Saturday NFL tripleheader’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff.

DID NOT PARTICIPATE

Patriots

  • C Ben Brown (concussion)
  • CB Marcus Jones (hip)
  • S Kyle Dugger (ankle, quad)

Chargers

  • G Trey Pipkins III (hip)
  • LB Denzel Perryman (groin)
  • P J.K. Scott (illness)

Through 10 starts, Brown has handled 100 percent of the offensive snaps at center for the Patriots. The autumn arrival’s streak is now in jeopardy as he works through the league’s concussion protocol on a shorter week. And on the defensive side of the ball, Jones has not practiced since sustaining a hip injury on Dec. 15, while Dugger would have stayed sidelined for a second straight session due to a quad injury in addition to a lingering ankle injury.

LIMITED PARTICIPATION

Patriots

  • OT Caedan Wallace (ankle — IR return)
  • G Cole Strange (knee)
  • LB Jahlani Tavai (groin)
  • LB Curtis Jacobs (concussion — IR return)
  • S Jabrill Peppers (hamstring)

Chargers

  • RB J.K. Dobbins (knee — IR return)
  • RB Gus Edwards (ankle)
  • TE Will Dissly (shoulder)
  • TE Hayden Hurst (illness)
  • DT Otito Ogbonnia (pelvis)
  • CB Elijah Molden (knee)
  • S Tony Jefferson (hamstring)

Wallace and Jacobs remain on injured reserve in Foxborough, yet both rookies have seen their 21-day activation windows open in recent weeks. The offensive tackle as well as the linebacker would have stayed in a partial capacity. The same goes for Strange, who made his 2024 debut on special teams after sustaining a torn patellar tendon last winter. The Chattanooga product, whose Patriots tenure includes 27 starts at left guard, could be in line for work at center in the absence of the incumbent. As for the Chargers’ side of the aisle, Hurst at tight end and Ogbonnia at defensive tackle made their way back as limited on Wednesday.

FULL PARTICIPATION

Patriots

  • RB JaMycal Hasty (ankle)

Chargers

  • CB Cam Hart (concussion)

Hasty missed three consecutive practices due to an ankle issue last week on the way to being ruled out. The veteran running back returned to practice as a full participant on Tuesday. And by Wednesday, Hart in the Los Angeles secondary did the same following a concussion. The corner had been listed among the team’s limited the afternoon prior.
