The Kansas City Chiefs (13-1) hold a two-game lead for the No. 1 seed in the AFC with three games remaining in the regular season. The Chiefs made a roster move on Friday that should strike fear in the league before the playoffs.

The Kansas City Chiefs have dealt with unfortunate injuries

Kansas City Chiefs news, Rashee rice

Kansas City has been dealing with injury issues all over the roster the season. No position has been affected more than at wide receiver. Marquise Brown hasn’t played a regular season after suffering a shoulder injury in the preseason. Rashee Rice suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 4.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a scary moment in Sunday’s 21-7 win over the Cleveland Browns. Mahomes suffered a mild high-ankle sprain. It’s unclear if the Chiefs will play against the Houston Texans (9-5) on Sunday, but he was taken off the injury report on Thursday. (However, head coach Andy Reid wouldn’t commit to pushing Mahomes to start with the recent injury, as Kansas City is playing 11 games in three days.)

Marquise Brown is set to play on Saturday

On Friday, the Chiefs activated Brown to the 53-man roster, per a post on X.

“We have activated WR Hollywood Brown from Reserve/Injured,” Kansas City posted. “We have activated Practice Squad players S Deon Bush and TE Anthony Firkser via Standard Elevation. We have placed TE Baylor Cupp on Practice Squad; Injured.”

Fans on social media were excited about the move.

“LETS GOOOOO HOLLYWOOD BROWN BACK,” wrote a fan.

“So glad to have him back. Here’s hoping his work isn’t nullified by a Carl Cheffers penalty,” posted another.

Tight end Travis Kelce is the Chiefs leading receiver entering Week 16 with 84 receptions for 709 yards and two touchdowns. Rookie Xavier Worthy is the team’s leading wide receiver, with 44 receptions for 494 yards and four touchdowns.

Brown will give Kansas City a No. 1 WR for the playoffs if the 27-year-old can stay healthy.
