Holiday-themed look is intended to add extra flair to the festivities
The NFL is making a festive change to its team jerseys for Week 16 and Week 17, with four teams set to wear a holiday-inspired uniform patch during these games.
The Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans and Pittsburgh Steelers will don the unique patches as part of the NFL Holiday Remix, a two-week event featuring back-to-back games with playoff implications.
The holiday-themed look is intended to add extra flair to the festivities surrounding the Christmas season.
This newly introduced holiday-inspired patch is a small, playful design featuring two candy canes crossed in an “X” shape behind the iconic NFL shield.
The design has already garnered positive reactions from fans, with many taking to social media to express their enthusiasm. The Houston Texans‘ official X account shared an image of the patch, and fan responses were overwhelmingly positive. Comments included praise like, “This rules,” “Love it,” and “This goes hard.”
The NFL has incorporated patches on player jerseys before, notably during Thanksgiving games when all participating teams wore the John Madden tribute patch to honor the legendary coach and broadcaster.
Players who have been recognized as Walter Payton Man of the Year Award winners also sport a special patch on their jerseys to signify their achievement. However, the addition of a holiday-themed patch is a new move by the league, reflecting the growing emphasis on holiday branding and fan engagement.
When is the NFL Holiday Remix?
The NFL Holiday Remix begins on Saturday, December 21 and continues on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024.
Each of the four participating teams will play in two marquee matchups during these weeks. The event is part of the league’s growing effort to create special moments during the holiday season, and this year, they are taking it a step further with a new media partnership and live performances.
