The Kansas City Chiefs have been stung by the injury bug as of late, most notably affecting starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
In Week 15, the Chiefs defeated the Cleveland Browns 21-7. While it was a successful outing that ended in Kansas City’s fourth straight win, Mahomes suffered a leg injury that had him sidelined for much of the fourth quarter.
On Tuesday, the Chiefs revealed that Mahomes was a full participant in practice, despite what they’ve listed as an ankle injury.
While this is great news for Chiefs fans, offensive tackle D.J. Humphries had yet another practice on the sideline. He did not practice on Tuesday, after being listed as “questionable” before the Browns game.

Humphries is currently working through a hamstring injury, which he suffered in his Chiefs debut against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14.
The nine-year NFL veteran signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Chiefs in early December. He spent his first eight seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2021.
While Humphries is in the latter half of his career, there’s a vital need for Mahomes to have protection, especially with the ankle injury he’s currently nursing.
In the game against the Browns, Mahomes dropped back and was bull-rushed by the Cleveland defensive line, resulting in a nasty tackle.
Humphries may not be able to fully prevent that from taking place, but the veteran could have a great presence in a mediocre offensive line room.
The Chiefs’ next matchup will be played in Kansas City on Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. ET. Kansas City heads into the game with a 13-1 record, listed as a 2.5-point favorite over the Houston Texans, per ESPN BET.
