Former Detroit Lions Cornerback Hints at Possible Return Amid Rash of Injuries - Athlon Sports

The Detroit Lions have become the walking wounded in recent weeks after injuries to several players on both sides of the football.

The defense has been particularly hard hit in recent weeks, culminating with a season ending injury suffered by defensive tackle Alim McNeill and a possible season ending injury suffered by cornerback Carlton Davis III this past Sunday against the Buffalo Bills and their superstar quarterback Josh Allen.

On Monday, a player with a name familiar to Lions fans made a post on X that fanned the flames of a potential return to coach Dan Campbell’s team in Motown.

“The secret of success is to be ready when your opportunity comes,” Jacobs wrote on X with three red ‘100’ emojis at 12:47 p.m. ET.

The post was seen over 100,000 times as of the early hours of Tuesday morning as Lions fans coped with the hangover effect of losing 48-42 to the Buffalo Bills and their star quarterback on Sunday.

“Come home,” the Metro Detroit based page Woodward Sports said in response to Jacobs’ post.

“You ready? Hear the Lions might be thin at CB!” another page added.

“Man please tell me Brad Holmes got you on speed dial. This team needs you, should’ve never cut you to begin with,” another fan added.

The 5-foot-11, 203 pound former Lions cornerback was released by the Rams this past August. He played three seasons in Detroit, most recently in 2023, when he compiled 55 total tackles and three interceptions with eight passes defended for Campbell’s team.
