Browns’ emotional leader goes down with a broken foot
Ahead of their Week 16 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cleveland Browns suffer another big injury loss.
Nick Chubb became the feel-good story of the year when he made an emotional return from a catastrophic knee injury he suffered last season. Chubb made his season debut against the Bengals in Week 7 and scored his first touchdown in over a year.
Sunday against Kansas City, Chubb suffered a non-contact injury in the third quarter. He was eventually diagnosed with a broken foot, which will end his season early for the second straight year.
“I had a first-row seat to what he’s been able to do,” Browns coach Keven Stefanski said after the game. “I can’t tell you how much I respect him as a person. Really, really disappointed about this injury. (But it) does not change the fact that he continues to inspire this football team with how he approaches every single day. And I know that this is just another obstacle that he will overcome.”
Chubb has been a Bengals’ killer throughout his career, having amassed 925 yards on 186 carries (an average of five yards per carry), with nine touchdowns in 11 games. Cincinnati hosts Cleveland next Sunday afternoon at 1 PM ET.
