Over the weekend the Kansas City Chiefs picked up their 13th win of the season with a 21-7 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
With the win, combined with a Detroit Lions loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Chiefs now own the best record in the NFL and hold a two-game lead over the Bills for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Just a day after the win, Kansas City appears to have made a notable roster move.
On Monday afternoon former first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire took to social media with a message for Chiefs Kingdom, which appears to confirm his release from the team.
“Love ya KC! A family I didn’t know I needed, y’all made a Kid from Baton Rouge dreams come true! To Chiefs Kingdom , its all love and the support I had in troubling times will forever be unmatched from you guys! With love! -Clydro,” he said in a message on social media this afternoon.

Not long after the message from Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs confirmed the news with a message on social media. “We have waived RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire,” it read plainly.
Ahead of the 2024 season, the former LSU star admitted he’s suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from an incident where he and another LSU player were trying to sell an electronic item when one of them fatally shot an 18-year-old man trying to rob them.
“Sometimes I’m admitted into the hospital, something like I can’t stop throwing up and it’s just, I [don’t] know [anything] pretty much to stop it,” he told ESPN.
“Real bad dehydration … but it’s really just mentally just not being there. It is one of those things where early on guys who kind of pay attention like Travis [Kelce] and Kadarius [Toney], at times they can even, they’ll know ahead of time like, ‘OK, Clyde’s not laughing, he’s not giggling, he’s not himself.'”
He did not play in a game for the Chiefs this season.
