BREAKING: Chiefs Reveal Big WR Injury Development Going Into Week 15

Nov 10, 2024; Kansas City, Missouri, USA; Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid watches play against the Denver Broncos during the second half at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Kansas City Chiefs were hit hard by injuries before the regular season began. They lost veteran wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a sternoclavicular injury. The Chiefs placed the veteran wideout on injured reserve immediately in September.

Kansas City hoped he could return for the postseason but didn’t have any expectations of him playing in the regular season. Well, it seems like the veteran playmaker has beat the odds and could be making his 2024 debut in the near future.

On Tuesday, Nate Taylor of The Athletic went on 96.5 The Fan with Cody Tapp and Alex Gold and reported that he’s been told by people inside the organization that Brown is expected to practice either Wednesday or Thursday.

The Chiefs beat writer noted Brown won’t play in Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, but the Christmas Day game is still obtainable.

Chiefs News: Hollywood Brown Is Getting Close To Making KC Debut

On Wednesday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid gave an encouraging injury update on Brown when speaking with reporters. According to Charles Goldman of AtoZ Sports, Reid said the veteran wide receiver is “getting close.”

“He’s champing at the bit to get back out there. He’s got to visit with the doctors,” Reid added. “He’s getting close. He says he feels great.”

If the Chiefs can get Brown back on the field before the playoffs begin that would be huge news for an offense decimated by injury at wide receiver. After losing Brown in the preseason, Kansas City saw second-year wideout Rashee Rice suffer a season-ending knee injury in Week 4.

In addition to Rice, the Chiefs placed veteran wide receiver Mecole Hardman on injured reserve last week with a knee injury.

Kansas City has done an adequate job without Brown on the field as veteran wideout DeAndre Hopkins and rookie Xavier Worthy have stepped up in the passing game. Since being acquired in October. Hopkins has recorded 30 receptions (45 targets) for 357 yards and four touchdowns in seven games.

Meanwhile, Worthy has produced 38 receptions (67 targets) for 448 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie this season. If you can have a healthy Brown playing alongside Hopkins and Worthy, it would be the perfect late-season addition for the two-time defending Super Bowl champs.
