BREAKING: Bears υrged to sign Lions playmaker to $2 million contract

The Detroit Lions have been one of the most dominant teams in the NFL this season, as Dan Campbell’s squad is 12-1 and has sole possession of the No.1 seed in the NFC North through 14 weeks. The Lions have won a franchise record 11 straight games after a 1-1 start and will host the Buffalo Bills at Ford Field in Week 15.

Detroit’s Week 14 victory over the Green Bay Packers secured the team a playoff spot and their second consecutive 12-win season. Though many players contributed to the Lions’ impressive divisional victory over the Packers, wide receiver Tim Patrick had his most productive game of the season. Patrick hauled in six catches for 43 yards and scored two pivotal touchdowns in the second half.

The 31-year-old signed a one-year deal with Detroit in August after missing the last two seasons due to significant knee injuries. Patrick has totaled 27 catches and 349 receiving yards this year and is establishing himself as the Lions’ WR3 opposite Amon-Ra St.Brown and Jameson Williams.

What can WR Tim Patrick bring to Detroit Lions' offense?

Patrick will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason and could land a decent payday if he builds off a fantastic outing versus Green Bay in Week 14.

In a recent article laying out an ideal offseason for the Chicago Bears, Windy City Gridiron’s Jacob Infante believes Chicago should sign Patrick to a one-year, $2 million deal in 2025 free agency. Infante also wants to see the Bears sign a pair of Patrick’s teammates, defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike and cornerback Emmanuel Moseley.

“Onwuzurike, Patrick and Moseley are three players coming over from Detroit to make the jump with their current coaches and serve as rotational players on their respective sides of the ball,” Infante wrote.

Patrick doesn’t have the same explosiveness or burst due to suffering severe injuries in 2022 and 2023, but the former undrafted free agent would be a savvy acquisition by the Bears, as he will be inexpensive to sign and would add some quality depth in Chicago’s wide receiver room.

The Lions could look to bring back Patrick in the offseason if he has a strong finish to the year, but if the former Utah standout decides to depart Detroit, the Bears would be an intriguing landing spot for the veteran pass catcher.
