The Cleveland Browns have a record of 3-10, but their path does not get any easier as they revealed injury updates to a flurry of key players, including linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and cornerback Martin Emerson Jr.
To make matters worse, the Browns are now set to take on the back-to-back Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15. Their season is over and they are battling for 2025 NFL draft positioning more than anything else with key top 10 players in the class within their reach. However, losing key players to injury is as demoralizing as the continued losing late into a lost season in 2024.
Especially in a lost season, the Browns need these players to stay healthy so they can evaluate their roster for the future. That is hard to do when players who need to be evaluated are not on the field.
So what was all of the injury news released by the Browns? It goes beyond just Owusu-Koramoah and Emerson Jr. as the team gave six injury updates in total. Let’s talk about all of them here:
LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah
The Browns have already ruled Owusu-Koramoah out this week against the Chiefs. It is doubtful that he plays again this season.
CB Martin Emerson Jr.
Martin Emerson Jr. revealed he has been playing through a calf injury. He stated he reaggravated it this weekend against the Steelers. It does not appear that he plans to miss time.
WR Cedric Tillman
Wide receiver Cedric Tillman is still in the concussion protocol. If he cannot bounce back this week against the Chiefs, this will be his third game missed.
DT Mike Hall Jr.
Mike Hall Jr. is eligible for return from Injured Reserve this week. Kevin Stefanski has stated the team is working through his recovery. Getting him back on the field for the last four games would be huge from an evaluation standpoint.
CB Greg Newsome II
Stefanski stated that Newsome is expected to miss some time after re-injuring the groin he had surgery on before the season. If he is placed on IR his season will be over.
CB Mike Ford
Cornerback Mike Ford Jr. left the game against the Steelers with a concussion. He is still in the concussion protocol.
