Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are happy as clams with the quarterback taking the team to success after success. Currently, the Kansas City Chiefs are reigning in the AFC West after winning an impressive 12 games and losing only one. In their most recent game, the Chiefs played the Los Angeles Chargers and won with a final score of 19-17.

Against the Chargers, Mahomes attempted 37 passes and completed 24 for a total of 219 yards, managing a single score. Meanwhile, Isiah Pacheco led the team in rushing with 14 carries for 55 yards, while Travis Kelce took charge of the defense with five receptions for 45 yards. Mahomes is the most crucial player for the Chiefs at the moment and is currently on a $503 million contract extension which came up in 2020.

“The best thing that happened was the Chiefs and my team, we went in with an open mind. We tried to figure out what was not only best for me and my family, but also what was best for the team moving forward. In order to build something great, you have to have that open-minded communication.”

“Obviously, I’m very excited, very happy. Having security for my family and security for future generations, but at the same time I’m happy our franchise is able to sign guys like Chris Jones and sign guys that were able to help me build this team together, and we’ll be able to have something we can build for a long, long time.” Mahomes said in an interview with CBS Sports in 2020. The 10-year contract extension came up as a result of Mahomes leading the Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl, their first in 50 years back then. Despite knowing that the hefty sum will soon look small as years go by and salary caps go higher, Patrick Mahomes took it since he knew that the team is the best place for him to play.

Patrick Mahomes And Travis Kelce Team-Up To Win Against Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers were the latest victim for the Kansas City Chiefs and fell 19-17 in NFL Week 14. Mahomes was stunning in that game as usual but showed some special skill sets when he teamed up with Travis Kelce on defense to bring home the gold.

Despite having an opportunity to go for a field goal, Mahomes ran a passing play on third-and-seven and managed to find Kelce, so that kicker Matthew Wright will have a chance to score a field goal. Mahomes and Kelce indeed share a special connection, which was simply explosive last year.
