FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys signed two defensive backs to the practice squad on Wednesday, welcoming Troy Pride Jr. and Dee Delaney to Dallas following a workout.
The team also designated Amani Oruwariye to return, opening his 21-day practice window. He was placed on injured reserve with a back injury following the Cowboys’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8.
There won’t be an injury report until Thursday as the Cowboys play on Monday Night Football this coming week, but Trevon Diggs and Oruwariye were out and going through drills with the team during Wednesday’s media viewing of practice. Diggs missed his second straight game of the season against the Giants on Thanksgiving with groin and knee injuries.
Pride Jr. was a fourth-round pick for the Carolina Panthers in the 2020 NFL draft, where he played in 14 games his rookie season tallying 42 tackles and two passes defended. He suffered a torn ACL in a preseason game in 2021, causing him to miss the season. He has since been on the practice squad for the New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, and most recently the Houston Texans.
Delaney signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He spent time on the practice squad in Jacksonville before brief stints with the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and Washington Redskins before signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In three years there, Delaney picked up 71 tackles and three interceptions before signing with the Buffalo Bills this offseason. He was placed on injured reserve in August, and was waived a week later.
Dallas has seen a plethora of injuries in the cornerback room with Caelen Carson and Josh Butler being placed on IR, DaRon Bland missing a majority of the season, plus Jourdan Lewis and Diggs both missing some time as well. The Cowboys have seen six different corners start for them over the course of the season, and have now added some more depth.
