The Cleveland Browns will look to get another shocking primetime victory when they face the Denver Broncos on Monday night.
After they began the year 1-6 with Deshaun Watson starting at quarterback, the Browns are 2-2 since Jameis Winston has taken over as the starter.
Cleveland is coming off an upset victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12, where Winston led a game-winning drive in the final two minutes.
Prior to the game against Denver, Winston commented on his potential future with the Browns with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
“I’ve truly embraced this city.” Winston said. “I’m grateful for the fans challenging me. I’m grateful for the fans lifting me up. I’m grateful for you all challenging me and lifting me up. I think anytime where you’re able to solidify a role in a place and play good at that place, you like to be home. But however, that’s out of my control.”
In four starts, Winston has thrown 1,266 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. Although he likely wouldn’t be the strongest long-term option at 30-years-old, he has certainly jumpstarted the Browns’ offense in recent weeks.
Prior to starting Winston, the Browns hadn’t scored over 20 points in a single game this season, while after he became the starter, they’ve done in twice in four games.
Winston, the 2015 first-overall pick, spent five years as the starter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he was a one-time Pro Bowler.
