Blackhawks’ Crevier Said He ‘Almost Missed It’ After Scoring First Career Goal

Blackhawks' Crevier Said He 'Almost Missed It' After Scoring First Career Goal - Yahoo Sports

The Chicago Blackhawks had a huge win against the Dallas Stars and some players who really needed a goal, got on the board. While the top players made their mark, Louis Crevier, one of the many younger defensive options for the Blackhawks, made his mark by scoring the first goal of his NHL career.

Crevier played just his second game of the season for the Blackhawks and first at home where the team has struggled to score in the third period this season. That didn’t change, but at least Chicago’s six goal night was capped off by Crevier in the latter half of the second period.

The young defenseman said he felt “Pretty good. I’ve been waiting a long time.” This is Crevier’s third year playing professional hockey after graduating from the QMJHL. He played one full season in the AHL for the Rockford IceHogs before splitting last season between the NHL and AHL and now doing so this season as well.

On his goal, Crevier said, “I thought the play was dead, but (Mikheyev) made an unreal pass and I had a wide open net. Almost missed it. I was kind of blacked out for a second.” He was really involved in the game as the rookie played 17:58, had two shots, and three blocks.

This was Crevier’s 26th career NHL game. He recorded three assists in 24 games last season and was on the third pairing with a good mentor in TJ Brodie.

The rookie also said, “It was fun to play with the lead. Probably gave me some confidence playing a bit looser…I found my game early and was able to put (in) a good performance.” By Crevier getting into the game, it took Nolan Allan out of the lineup. After scoring and being involved, I think Crevier gets at least one more game now though.
