Kansas City Chiefs coach Dave Merritt Sr. has revealed that pop superstar Taylor Swift has been making sweet treats for Travis Kelce’s teammates “all season”.
The chart-topping singer has been a regular attendee in the Arrowhead Stadium VIP suite since last September after embarking on a romance with her Chiefs tight end boyfriend. Last season, the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker cheered on her beau at 15 games last season – including the Super Bowl showpiece.
During the current campaign, Swift has carried on her tradition as she continues to juggle her “Eras Tour” commitments with her support for Kelce and his teammates. Now, KC defensive backs coach Merritt Sr. has revealed that the world-famous songwriter has been baking pop tarts for the team throughout the season.
Speaking about Swift’s wholesome gesture, Merritt Sr. paid a touching tribute to her, saying on X: “Taylor Swift baked homemade victory Pop Tarts me! Yolonda Merritt said, ‘She’s done it all season for different people Dave’. I thought I was SPECIAL. Sweet young woman regardless!”
Her kind act proved popular with fans too, with one person commenting: “This is why Taylor has the fan base that she does. She is humble, gracious & generous! Name me one other person of her fame level that is baking goods & sewing baby blankets for people. She is right person to be the most famous woman in the world. Class act & a great role model!”
Meanwhile, a second fan spoke in glowing terms about Swift’s generosity as he embraced her as part of the Chiefs family, saying: “From an everyday Chiefs fan, yes, thats very sweet, Tay is indeed beloved by Chiefs fans and team!! She has become part of the fabric of the Kingdom and I think she’s a serious fan!!””
Likewise, a third person commented that the act demonstrated the singer’s humility, saying: “That’s awesome! I love her interactions with the Chiefs organization. She seems to feel at home there and you get to see her as more of a regular person. That must be so comforting for her. Enjoy your treat!”
This is not the first time that a Chiefs figure has spoken about Swift’s baking talents, with head coach Andy Reid having previously spoken on the subject. He once joked: “She likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade pop-tarts. She didn’t give me one, and the offensive linemen definitely didn’t give me one.”
In addition, boyfriend Kelce has also spoken previously about his time enjoying cooking alongside the singer during their their down time together. Waxing lyrical about her talents, he divulged: “I thoroughly enjoy cooking with her,” adding: “Taylor makes a great pop-tart and cinnamon roll!”
