🚨BREAKING: Following Mike Danna’s recent visit to the rival Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs are being urged to pivot toward future Hall of Famer Cameron Jordan. For the first time in his 15-year career, the 36-year-old edge rusher is a free agent, offering the Chiefs a significant veteran upgrade to bolster their defense and chase another championship.👇

It appears that the Kansas City Chiefs have turned the page on edge-rusher Mike Danna after he took a visit to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. This is a huge signal that Danna is officially out the door, willingly taking a visit with a team that has consistently been on Kansas City’s heels over the past half-decade. Now, it seems Danna is open to joining the losing side of the rivalry and could push KC to make an additional free agency move.

Cameron Jordan - New Orleans Saints Defensive End - ESPN

With Danna appearing to be out the door, there is a clear fallback option for the Chiefs that is an undeniable upgrade. For the first time in his accomplished career, Cameron Jordan is a free agent, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, he is open to joining a new team. Jordan is a compelling addition coming off a season with 10.5 sacks despite playing with an underwhelming New Orleans roster.

Joining the Chiefs would give the 36-year-old Jordan a chance to compete for a championship and an obvious path to putting up another productive season. Chris Jones does so much of the dirty work on the inside that edge rushers are given an unquestionable advantage.

If there is any team that can continue Jordan’s late career hot streak, it is the Chiefs. Not only are you replacing the departing Danna, but you’re making an obvious upgrade and giving yourself a chance to find consistent edge rush production.

Chiefs Should Respond to Latest Mike Danna Report by Signing Cameron Jordan

Another selling point for Jordan is the chance to join Steve Spagnuolo’s defense and have a chance to compete for a Super Bowl while playing for a coach who is noted for getting the most out of his pieces. The Chiefs can offer a large number of snaps as well, with the team’s current edge rushing rotation being a clear area of concern.

Danna has a combined 4.5 sacks over the past two seasons and offered KC a lone sack in the 2025 season. Replacing the veteran’s edge presence clearly isn’t difficult, and Jordan would do so even if last season’s double-digit sack production isn’t repeated.

The Chiefs have $6.9 million in open cap space according to Spotrac, but could easily open up additional space with the front office consistently showing the ability to find ways to create room. Jordan isn’t likely to be an expensive signing at this late stage of his career.

No question, the move makes sense for Kansas City and Jordan, offering clear upside for both parties. The only potential hiccup is if the veteran has a difficult time putting on another jersey other than the Saints uniform he has worn his entire 15-year career.
