🚨BREAKING: Following a statistically “bad” 2025 performance from their wide receivers, the Kansas City Chiefs are under immense pressure to find Patrick Mahomes a veteran playmaker. With Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Tyquan Thornton all recording low efficiency scores, and Hollywood Brown departing for the Eagles, analysts are calling the current room a major liability for a Super Bowl contender.👇

The Kansas City Chiefs had a lot of things go wrong in 2025.

One of the problems? Their wide receivers, even the ones who were supposed to be good, were bad. That’s not ideal for helping Patrick Mahomes be the best at his job at the quarterback position.

“The performance of the Chiefs’ wide receivers, according to ESPN’s receiver scores last season, were significantly bad,” ESPN’s Aaron Schatz wrote in a new article on Thursday as he noted that the Chiefs’ biggest remaining need is to find a wideout. “Rashee Rice is generally believed to be one of the league’s top slot receivers, but he scored just a 49 out of 100 in an off season. Tyquan Thornton had a 36 and Xaiver Worthy just a 25.”

The Chiefs actually let a few veterans get away. Hollywood Brown signed with the Eagles after departing Kansas City in free agency, and JuJu Smith-Schuster remains unsigned but doesn’t appear to be coming back to the Chiefs.

Despite that, Kansas City hasn’t done much to improve the group this offseason.

“The top player behind these three (returning) receivers is 2025 fourth-round pick Jalen Royals, who had just two catches in his rookie season for 4 yards,” Schatz wrote. “The Chiefs also have return specialist Nikko Remigio and fifth-round rookie Cyrus Allen. They really must add a veteran free agent here.”

There are still a number of prominent wideouts available in free agency, including the likes of Jauan Jennings, Stefon Diggs and Deebo Samuel.

Kansas City is obviously an appealing destination from a football standpoint. There should be depth chart opportunity as well as the chance to play for a Super Bowl contender that is quarterbacked by a superstar in Mahomes.

With so many names still out there, the Chiefs can play the waiting game here for a while to see if prices drop even further. Eventually, though, it seems they definitely need to make a move
