Patriots’ Interest in Maxx Crosby Comes With a Hefty Catch

The asking price for a potential New England Patriots target was revealed on Wednesday night. The Las Vegas Raiders would want two first-round picks and a player in exchange for Maxx Crosby. Pro Football Talk reported this.

Crosby has not been shy about wanting to go to New England. This dates back to just before the Super Bowl. The Athletic’s Diana Russini indicated that Crosby told her that he would want to play with Mike Vrabel. Crosby has also been complimentary of the Patriots organization on his podcast.

A Steep Asking Price For Patriots

The PFT report offered some comparisons in a hypothetical deal for Crosby. It would take quite a bit to get something done.

Per a league source, the Raiders are looking for two first-round picks and a player for the 28-year-old edge rusher.

That’s what the Cowboys got for Micah Parsons in August, with the player being defensive lineman Kenny Clark.

Mike Florio notes that the type of player that the Raiders want isn’t specified. Even still, that is simply a steep price to pay.

Patriots Would Get Ample Production

The production is there when it comes to Crosby. He has been one of the most consistent defensive players in the NFL over the past couple seasons. He has registered 69.5 sacks over the course of seven seasons.  Crosby earned his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl in the 2025 season after recording 10 sacks. His best year came in 2023 when he recorded 14.5 sacks in 17 games.

He immediately burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2019. He recorded 10 sacks and 16 games on the year. This would be the first of four seasons with at least 10 sacks. He was able to immediately establish himself as one of the up-and-coming pass-rushers in the NFL.

There is little doubt that paying a steep price for Crosby is going to have to be the case for any acquisition. However, the Patriots are in a unique spot. They are building a relatively young roster and are coming off a Super Bowl appearance. This is unique in the sense that many were not even pegging them to be competitors in 2025. Now, they have a chance to add talent while continuing to develop their young group.

Crosby is not old by any stretch of the imagination. He is 28 years old, and will turn 29 in August. He is in the prime of his career and is a quality player. The right team will land one of the most dynamic defensive players in the NFL. The Patriots have a decision to make if they want to acquire him. As of right now, it seems as though anything is on the table for the organization.
