Detroit Lions Announce Jared Goff News Amid Offseason

Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions are officially in the offseason, but they’re working hard to come back from a rough 2025-26 run, which saw them with a 9-8 record and falling short of the playoffs. Now, the Lions have announced some news on Goff as the offseason continues.

Of course, the 2025-26 run was a sharp contrast to the previous season, where the team was No. 1 in the NFC and NFC North under the guidance of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. But, Goff still had a solid season, and he has the numbers, statistics and research to back that up.

“Week felt good,” Goff said after the team’s win over the Chicago Bears on January 4, which marked their final game of the season. “Felt good to finish it that way and thought we played well in all phases. I thought we left some points out there offensively certainly in the red zone, but defense played really well and gave us a couple more chances there. Made it happen.”

Detroit Lions Announce Jared Goff News as Team’s NFL Offseason Continues

On Thursday, February 19, the Detroit Lions took to social media to share footage of Goff’s season. On the post, they highlighted his best plays of the 2025-26 run, including his long passes to secure touchdowns.

“The Goat Goff,” one follower stated on the post. “Just need the o-line to perform (better) and defense a bit better and I got it,” another said.

Earlier in the year, the Lions also announced Goff’s stellar statistics for the 2025-26 season. He ranked No. 2 in the NFL for passing yards at 4,564 and passing touchdowns at 34 and No. 3 in the league for RTG at 105.5 and completed passes at 68 percent.

“Best quarterback in the NFC North,” one follower stated. “Considering his offensive line, this is incredible,” another added on the post.

Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions by the Numbers

For the 2025-26 regular season, Goff started all 17 games, rounding out the year passing for 4,564 yards, which was second in the NFL, 34 touchdowns, and eight interceptions with a 105.5 passer rating. He also successfully completed 393 of 578 passes at 68.0 percent, according to NFL research.

Now that the season has come to a close, Nick Shook has laid out his final tally of the best quarterbacks from the year, and he gives Goff props in his feature. In the story, out on February 11 on the NFL’s official website, he says Goff delivered.

Despite the Detroit Lions not getting to the playoffs, he has Goff in a high spot, which is a nice boost to the signal-caller going into the 2026-27 season. He has Goff as the No. 9 best quarterback in the NFL for 2025 and in the second tier.

“Jared Goff produced at a rate that was very similar to his last two seasons and tried his best to rescue a Lions offense that declined in 2025,” he stated in the feature. “Their running game’s disappearance undercut their chances, though, and put a target on his back that he was unable to shed in the final month of the regular season.”
