Last offseason, the Dallas Cowboys traded for George Pickens, and while they knew they were getting a talented wide receiver, no one expected him to have the kind of year he had. Now, a year later, Pickens is set to enter free agency, as a player Dallas can’t afford to lose. That status is evident by the way his teammates talk about him.
Fellow Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb recently sat down for an exclusive interview with FanSided, on behalf of Old Spice, and he talked about how much Pickens means to him and the team. When asked what it’s like playing with a guy as talented as Pickens, Lamb quickly explained that he calls Pickens an energizer because of how he injects the offense and other players with energy. Lamb got to see up close how great the young wideout is, so he doesn’t want him to go anywhere.

Lamb also developed a close relationship with Pickens off the field, and explained that he believes the younger receiver really found himself in Dallas, and Lamb is proud Pickens’ growth.
“Even when you’re tired, you have another guy that’s ready to ask a play that’ll give you your energy back. I call [Pickens] an energizer. He’s going to bring that swag to the position, that energy, toughness, and everything in between. I feel like he was a bit misconstrued out in Pittsburgh but he got to Dallas and found himself, and I love every bit of it.”

The receiver also made sure to also touch on the schematic advantage of playing with another elite wideout, acknowledging that it’s hard for defenses to double either one of them. That allows both receivers to consistently produce, and also opens up the run game.
Pickens, playing in all 17 games, caught 93 passes for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns — all career highs by a large margin. Lamb, in just 14 games, added 75 receptions for 1,077 yards and three touchdowns. Both wideouts made the Pro Bowl — the first of Pickens’ career — and Pickens was also second-team All-Pro.
Now, Dallas has to make sure Lamb and Pickens will be able to line up alongside each other again. The Cowboys can franchise tag the receiver, but it would make sense to just get a long-term deal done with the talented wideout.
